Many liquor companies came to Astrid Emballage to develop a new luxury bottle stopper for placement in higher-end, off-premise channels. The alcohol packaging needed to stand completely on its own from the rest of the competitors, while also still maintaining the timeless charm of its own brand.
The new bottle closure was named after the distillery’s unique piece of land in the Mountains. The soil is made up of a distinctive mixture of volcanic materials including obsidian and perlite glass. The cork stopper design shows off these characteristics of the earth with a representation of the layers that define Lithic Hill. Hues of black, gray, and gold foil stamping were combined with strategic embossing to create the visual and textural variation of this exceptional terroir.
Some distilleries came to Astrid Emballage to create a super-premium tier of alcohol packaging within their Kenwood Vineyards Jack London brand. As the exclusive producer of wines from the Jack London Ranch, the winery wanted the new packaging to pay tribute to the famous author and his love for the Sonoma Valley.
Astrid Emballage’s research during early design ideation uncovered historic photography on the property and ultimately became the centerpiece of the cork closure design. The packaging celebrates the rich legacy and the property through a series of photographs. The varietal and appellation information were artistically arranged along the top of the cork closure with the brand’s iconic wolf in to provide the limited edition, fine art feel sought for the design.

At the same time, we manage to make the production in a cost effective way.
Transformation is also driven by customer experience. Liquor products with entertainment value make the packaging design process more enjoyable. For instance, tequila packaging design are much more exciting than a spoon. Which of the two would make you wake up excited for work? New market entrants such as craft distilleries are a good example. These distilleries are built from a passion, then develop from on-site service to distribution of finished product.
